Energy Healing

The word ‘energy’ is thrown around so casually these days—but what does it even mean? And how can you heal it?

With Reiki, an energy healing practice discovered in Japan in the late 1800s.

First, though, we must define Reiki (and pronounce it: Ray-Key). Medical News Today defines Reiki as:

“A form of complementary therapy relating to energy healing. Proponents say it works with the energy fields around the body and involves the transfer of universal energy from the practitioners’ palms to the client.”

Sound crazy? Not so fast. It is based on the universal truth that everything in the universe is energy and different vibrational frequencies permeate everything, a concept confirmed by quantum physicists.

While no clinical research has yet proven the effects of Reiki, numerous articles and studies (found in newspaper articles and on sites like Medical News Today and ONS Voice) show that Reiki improves post-therapy comfort and well-being of cancer patients and can even help them reduce anxiety and depression.

According to the International Association of Reiki Professionals, Reiki method of healing was founded on the body’s energy systems. It was founded by Dr. Mikao Usui, who studied in a Buddhist monastery and sought to find a way to heal himself and others ‘using the laying on of hands.’

The coolest part? Usui wanted to find a healing method that was completely unattached to or associated with any religious beliefs so it could be used by EVERYONE. And thanks to meditation, Sanskrit documents and a long study of ancient healing techniques, he did it!

This “natural healing system” as Usui called it, can help the physical, emotional and spiritual body, as people receiving it have reported:

·      Reduced tension and stress

·      Increased energy levels

·      Overall calmer moods

·      Increased spiritual awareness

·      Connection with a greater purpose

·      Reduced anxiety and depression

·      A sense of inner peace and harmony

If you’re looking for a deeper dive into Reiki, we’ll post more insights on the topic soon! For now, if you’re interested in learning more, there are Reiki practitioners all over the world. Do a Google search, see what resources pop up for you and discover what fits in with your ideologies?

Important note: while Reiki has amazing benefits to your overall well-being, it should NOT take the place of medical treatments. It is to be used as a complementary therapy, so consider trying it alongside your regular routines and treatments.
